The Cos Bar founder Lily Garfield's forté: hand-picking some of the most sought-after beauty brands.

After leaving the Big Apple in 1976 for the slow-pace of Aspen, CO, Lily Garfield founded the The Cos Bar. Her forté: hand-picking some of the most sought-after brands for the 12 stores. If you’re fortunate enough (or cursed, as it were) to have one these luxe boutiques in your area, then you know: Lily’s skincare regimen might not be easy on the pocketbook, but it’s worth every penny. All items available at Cos Bar stores.

CLEANSER
Natura Bisse The Cure Cleanser ($57) is one of my favorite multi-tasking products because it’s a cleanser and toner in one. Great for traveling!

DAY
I’m in love with the new Bulgari Elixir Merveilleux serum ($320). It comes with a closed pump that is never exposed to air, and contains a highly targeted nutritive anti-aging concentrate that leaves my skin with a “cushy” feeling, adding hydration while firming at the same time. I usually follow the serum with Crème d’Olives ($135), an intensive hydrating cream that calms and soothes stressed skin.

EYE AREA
ReVive Serum Presse ($295) helps to combat puffiness and under eye circles—it does everything a serum should. I usually follow with the Bulgari Merveilleux Nutrive Firming Eye Contour Cream ($150) which gives me the extra slip and hydration I need living in harsh climates like Aspen and Scottsdale. I also find that my concealer goes on a lot smoother after using it.

NIGHT
My nighttime routine consists of applying the new SISLEY Sisleya Anti-aging Global Serum ($420), followed by a rich night cream like La Prairie Skin Caviar ($390).

SUN
In all of our destination locations—Vail, Santa Fe, Maui,, etc.—everyone forgets to bring their sunblock. We recommend Clarins SPF 30 ($ 32). If you’re packing lightly, look for a moisturizer that contains SPF, Chanel Precision Day Moisturizer SPF 20 ($58).

Who better to dole out advice on stress-free ways to care for your skin?

NYC-based dermatologist and physchiatrist Amy Wechsler, MD, wrote the book on how our hectic, fast-paced lives can lead to adult acne and premature aging. Who better to dole out advice on stress-free (i.e. inexpensive!) ways to care for your skin? Here are her favorite drugstore beauty buys:

I go to the local warehouse club and buy big tubs or giant pump dispensers. They’re both terrific.

Also at the local warehouse club, I buy Dove Beauty Bars or Purpose Cleansing Bars by the case. They don’t strip your skin of the good oils.

Safflower oil is a super moisturizer, especially for gator-dry legs, and gentle enough for babies. This heart-friendly polyunsaturated oil owes its famous skin-enriching actions to its very high linoleic acid content, a fatty acid that skin normally makes to keep its moisture level up and barrier function intact. Since our body’s linoleic acid production gets sluggish as we get older, safflower oil helps replace it—from the outside in! Smooth it on immediately after a bath or shower while you’re still damp to seal in the moisture.

For sunscreens, Neutrogena Sensitive Skin SPF 30 sunblock lotion is a world-class bargain. It contains 9.1 percent titanium dioxide, a crushed mineral that protects you instantly.

Vaseline is the best lip moisturizer. And talk about cheap! By the way, don’t use any lip balms that contain phenol (Blistex does, for one). They strip the top layer off your lips. That’s why you get addicted to them; they remove your natural protection.

This girl-about-town seems to know everyone and everything that's happening in the world of retail, food, and fashion.

Meet Sara Glassman, a lifestyle writer and girl-about-town who seems to know everyone and everything that’s happening in the world of retail, food, and fashion. You can always get the scoop from her at Pop Fizz Daily, but we’ve got her beauty picks right here!

(clockwise) Chanel Nail Colour in Black Satin and Shanghai Red ($23) – While I don’t like to go bold on my face, I do love a statement nail color. Chanel’s go on super smoothly and dry quicker than most polishes. Aveda Be Curly Curl Control ($18) – I’ve tried a million different curly hair products, but I like to twist a dollop of this into my wet hair and let it air dry. Yes, that means I always run around with damp hair. But blow-drying creates way too much frizz. Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($23) – Once you try this lip balm, you can’t live without it. The subtle color glides on smoothly and doesn’t clump in the corners of my mouth. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat ($40) – From the moment a makeup artist used this on me in 2001, I’ve been hooked. It’s a light-deflecting formula that provides coverage, but doesn’t go on thick. I usually use this under my eyes and often don’t use any other makeup, though I sometimes use a touch of Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer ($32). Patricia Wexler M.D. Dermatology Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 ($40) – My skin loves this cream and I adore the SPF 30. I’ve tried her other formulas, but this one works the best for me. Tarte Cheek Stain in Tickled ($30) – This stain gives you rosy cheeks with a very natural dewy sheen, and it has a nice, light fragrance. Origins Full Story Mascara ($14) – Eye shadow really makes me look like a clown, but I love to go crazy on the eyelashes. This formula pumps up my lashes and doesn’t run.
