It’s hard to believe that my 30 days of Meaningful Beauty are up already! I may not look like Cindy, but I sure feel like superwoman after a month of channeling her mission of living with meaning. It’s amazing how simple life becomes when you take care of yourself and those you love! For the final week I’m hauling myself through the snow to the ‘burbs to have birthday dinner with one of my best friends and the funniest guy I know, my dad, then will be spending the weekend painting the living room and drinking wine with the best mother-in-law on in the world. And for you, dear readers, I’m giving away on one but THREE Meaningful Beauty 30-day anti-aging kits! To qualify, you’ll need to pony up a meaninful activity of your own and leave it below in the comments section.
For anyone who has been hard-pressed to get on a skincare regimen, this is for you. Not only is it straight-forward and easy to follow, but covers all the steps that are tempting to skip—like SPF! The kit also includes a surprise bonus that I added into my routine last week, the Glowing Serum. Dr. Sebagh calls it his “model secret,” previously available only to his exclusive clientele. Well dahling, it most definitely adds that subtle glow we can all use.
So who’s in? Excited to hear what good you’ll be doing! I’ll select a winner at the end of the week—good luck!

Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . .

My “meaningful activity” tomorrow will be to donate items to a local church from freebies I have received or picked up free with coupons and then I will drop off two bags of free dog and cat food I have accumulated from Petco and Petsmart to my local no-kill animal shelter!! It will be a good day!! Makes me feel good to be able to help others!! Merry Christmas — help someone in need!!
i’m going to sing a couple of choir concerts for some lovely people in st. louis!
Feeding a feral cat! Every time I leave work really late, she’s outside (in the middle of downtown).
I volunteered with New York Cares at their coat distribution center sorting coats and other household items that will benefit New Yorkers in need most specifically the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Helping people in need in some small way is a beautifully meaningful act.
This will be my third Christmas without my mom…one of the best, most vivid memories I have with her is our Christmas cookie-thon! We would pick a weekend, my daughters and I would sleep over and bake, bake, bake! I have continued this with my daughters and they want to pass it along to their kids. It’s not unusual or out of the ordinary but it brings so many good, fun memories for us, that’s why it’s meaningful : )
I’m participating in the More Love Letters 12 Days of Love Letters and sending love to those who need it with handwritten and heartfelt words.
My “meaningful Activity” is collection monies to help send “SisterBirthing Kit’s” internationally so that safe birth happens. Also as a nail tech I volunteer my time and services ( Free of Charge) to elderly women that are homebound and want beautiful hands and feet. To me every woman regardless of age should feel beautiful…
I originally posted about wanting to take a spin class and you told me to go for it…so I did and I LOVED it. I’ve gone to two more since and i can’t wait to continue. This is meaningful for me because i really felt that I had to train before I could attend. I was wrong and I’m glad I was!!
My next meaningful project will be to “slow down” between Christmas and New Years and enjoy the time with my family.
Last week your challenge encouraged me to set up two lunch dates with old friends. This week I am going to offer my time to volunteer at our local school. I think this project is like an early New Year’s Resolution and I love it! Thanks for launching a positive idea.
I love that my job is meaningful everyday. I work as a veterinary technician & even when the days are long and hard knowing that I have made a difference in the lives of animals keeps me going. It’s wonderful to love your job :)
My meaningful activity is knitting mittens for the local Mitten Fairy project. The mittens will be donated to St. Paul area schools. The donations allow elementary school teachers to give mittens to students that need warm hands during recess or the walk to and from school.
I am one of the lucky ones, I have a job that creates “meaningful” activities every shift I work. I work midnight shift as an ICU nurse, which allows me to work diligently to help people every day (well, night). The patients, their families, and other staff. In addition to this, this week I am volunteering at an animal rescue, which is my other passion. I have had some of the most wonderful experiences with rescued furbabies as pets. And last, I will be spreading the word about a new pamering product that I have fallen in love with…..
My meaningful activity was during our big snowstorm in Mpls last weekend … I spent many hours outside of my comfort zone shovelling and moving car for my elderly eccentric neighbor so that she didnt’ get towed or ticketed during snow emergency. Even fell down HARD on the ice – something I try to avoid every winter!
My meaningful activity seems to be 24/7 as a new mommy. While I’m not able to put the time to help others right now as much as I would like, I feel like being the best mommy to my little one is the most meaningful to me. As a new mom AND a business owner, we spend our days handling client work then playing. The juggling act is certainly not easy, but it’s super meaningful when I get to see that beautiful little smile or great belly laugh. Maybe I can slather something on my face that will make me appear lovely and bag-free. After all, when my hubby comes home and I’m STILL in my PJ’s, I need all the help I can get! :)
For my life’s second half, my meaningful activity is to live in the present — releasing the past to the past and worry less (I don’t know if can completely absolutely never worry!) about the future. This will create an environment where I can take care of myself and be good to those I love. It’s never ever too late to start again!
As someone who is in the “fall” of my lifetime, I try to make a point of finding something positive and memorable about each day. Life seems to slip by so swiftly if you don’t take the time to savor the moment. For the holidays I enjoy creating hand made gifts for my friends and family. I love to spend the time reminiscing about the recipient as I work and recalling the special times we enjoyed together.
Lots of meaningful stuff is happening this month, as we get to spend time with family and friends, but especially meaningful to us will be decorating a tree in our very first home together! We just became home owners over the summer, so this particularly exciting!
My meaningful activity is something I have been doing for 4 years now. There are a lot of homeless and food insecure families in the area I live, well I think in most areas right now. But 4 days a week I am blessed to be able to help the people in my community by providing them with healthy fresh food that will feed their families for the week. Not a government run program of can food and beans but a grass roots attempt to deliver fresh veggies, dairy, meat, bread and love to not only feed their bellies but their souls. The hugs are as plentiful as the food!
I signed up to be an Imerman’s Angel. This is an organization that provides one-on-one support to people going through a cancer. When I was diagnosed with my brain tumor at age 31, I was sure I was going to die. Years later, I am still here and doing great and I realized that what I needed back then was to talk to someone who has been through it. So that’s what I offer to others. It isn’t much, but it’s what I have to give. :)
My meaningful activity is to redeem the time. One way that I’m going to fulfill this is to be selfish with things that matter (ex: spending time with family/friends, focusing and doing things for others rather than myself, selfishly lavishing others with kind words<–does that even make sense, haha). Therefore, if I somehow get chosen as one of the winners, this will be given to my mother who's selfishly and tirelessly sacrificed so much for my family. :)
My meaningful activity is to bake holidays cookies and distribute them to friends and family to thank hem for being there for me. I know it’s a small gesture, but the action of doing something for others is so pleasurable!
My meaningful activity is to kick everyone’s butt when I teach my spinning class on Saturday morning. I so hope they’ll be thankful for me!
I’m thankful for what I have in this world and I embrace my life each and every day – I strive to live, laugh, and love more with my 3 beautiful boys, who make my life most meaningful.
My meaningful activity involves my wonderful group of First Grade students…we had a change collection (in part of a Project Based Learning Activity) and our 6 classes of Firsties raised $1,044.00 — with this money, we purchased items to make bags for the homeless. Each resuable shopping bag contained a fleece blanket, chapstick, snacks, water bottles, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Today, we met under a bridge in San Antonio, Texas and passed out these bags to some very deserving people! It was a blessing to be able to do this for them and a wonderful experience for my own children to be a part of! It truly was a blessing in disguise. I loved seeing their faces when we handed them the bag and to be able to visit with them…..we have SO much to be thankful for!
I am officially overwhelmed and in awe of every single one of you. So much good! THANK YOU for sharing your stories, for your gifts to the world and yourselves, and for taking this journey with me!
