Good morning lovelies! I have a photoshoot first thing today for a fun project I’m working on, which means I’m off to hair and makeup for some serious doctoring. In the spirit of a few self-love birthday resolutions, I snapped a shot of myself au naturale. Minus my minkies from Jett Makeup, of course. So now you know. And will probably never see me this way again.
Filed Under: eyelash extensions minneapolis, jett makeup and lash bar, no makeup
Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . .

Serious doctoring? Your skin looks better than mine does in my mid-20s. Just sayin’. :)
The camera can be incredibly cruel! You, however, are so kind. It’s the skincare!
Those lashes are killer! Do you curl them or do they just look that good on their own?
No curling or mascara allowed! Those are how they look first thing in the morning :)
you gorgeous thing. i miss your face!! xo
You look absolutely gorgeous au naturale!!!
when you have minkies, you really don’t need makeup. i learned that from you and this further proves the point!
Looking fresh faced and gorgeous might I add! xo
Any suggestions on how to find someone who does good minkies in my area?
So pretty, you!
Perfect website name; “Beauty Bets”. Stunning! IF you are willing to share; beside the devotion to sunscreen and healthy diet; have you ever done chemical peels, botox, or the like? I am pushing 40 this year and, although I have been so inspired by your website, product reviews and have obtained a newfound dedication to label reading, I still had an affair in the 80′s with a tanning bed (ugh). Would love to know how to jump start a way to have the skin tone, balance and dewiness you radiate!

You look gorgeous makeup or not!
@Sarah – Jett is trained in Lavish Lashes so I checked their website for other providers and found one in SF: http://www.lavishlashes.com/eyelash-extensions-professional-jessica-devereux-san-francisco-ca/
@Stacy – Such wonderful to hear, truly. That’s why I started the blog! Good news/bad news: I, too, was a total tanner, and have spent my post-college years trying to undo the damage. Skin tone is a big ager, so I always use a brightening/lightening product (try Arcona LIghtening Drops) as well as an antioxidant serum (Arcona Desert Mist) and spf to protect from further damage. I’ve never gotten a chemical peel because I’m on the fence about whether that’s too harsh and unnecessary, but twice a year I do get my sunspots zapped with an intense pulsed light laser (IPL) also called photo rejuvenation (I see Joan at Uptown Dermatology). I never thought I’d do botox, but I’ve had such amazing, natural-feeling/looking results with Dysport, a Botox alternative, that I can’t resist. I go to Skin Rejuvenation Clinic twice a year to get a dose between my brows where I have a deep crease from concentrating too hard in math and science classes! Finally, hydration is essential for dewiness. I love pure, plant-based facial oils. Under moisturizer and patted over makeup they are instant skin glow-getters.
Hope that helps!

Your eyelashes look amaizing!! I’ve tried doing the tinting, but I still feel like I need to add mascara to look completely awake. Do you find the extensions to be worth the money? How long do they last?

@Lynn – Extensions are a totally different investment than tinting, but also more dramatic. I get them filled in every 3-4 weeks, which costs around $100-150, depending on the materials you use (synthetic, silk, mink). For me it’s worth the cost because it saves me time every morning, and that’s where I’ve chosen to spend my beauty budget versus on hair color or manis, etc. Definitely worth exploring if you have fair lashes and still use mascara. You could also ask Jett about their Lash Dip service, which looks like mascara and lasts for weeks, plus costs less than extensions.
