No really. Ever since moving to Seattle I’ve had the worst hair of my life. Like, every single day. Thanks to the perpetual precipitation and humidity, it takes about two-point-four seconds for my freshly blown-out hair to go from smooth and straight to frizzy and flat. I didn’t even know that cruel combination was possible. I’ve tried everything in my arsenal: volumizers, velcro rollers, more conditioner, less conditioner, heat protectants, anti-frizz serum, super-strength hair spray and still . . . nothing. In a last-ditch effort, I decided to give Ghd’s hair straightener a spin. Although my stylist extraordinaire Mel—and pretty much any beauty queen I ask—swears by this professional ceramic smoother, I had NO IDEA. It smoothes in one pass, and leave my locks shiny and silky—not damaged or dry. Most importantly: The straight lasts all day, even through my misty walk to work. I do occasionally tote it to the office for pre-happy hour touch-ups, but that’s no biggie because it’s so lightweight and heats up by the time I’ve applied my lipstick. Bottom line: So much better than any other flat iron I’ve tried, from Revlon to Chi. Would you agree?

Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . .

I’ve only had one other straightener before I got my GHD and probably wouldn’t change brands unless something super dooper amazingly fantastic came along …
At the risk of sounding contrarian, my life has improved dramatically since I got rid of my iron and blow dryers, and embraced my curls after reading Curly Girl. I have more time, fewer gadgets, fewer products, less fretting and more compliments. I used to love the dramatic difference in my hair after a blowout/ironinig, but now that I’m finished with them, I don’t miss them.
In my opinion, GHD has the best flat iron on the market. My hair was so damaged from using the drug store flat irons, and I was somewhat hesitant to spend the money on the GHD, but I’m glad I did. I have naturally wavy hair and live in NC where the humidity is pretty high, and the GHD keeps my hair looking great even in the middle of summer. I barely use any product and my hair is so much healthier now than before.
Kristin, that sounds dreamy! Embracing your natural texture is always the easiest, healthiest and prettiest way to go – especially with the right products. I’m waiting for it to warm up here so I can let mine air dry.
Also a lifesaver in Manila, Philippines. Didn’t have it for my first stay but did for the 2nd trip. Made a world of difference. GHD is has universal voltage so it works in most countries. Hands down best flat iron.
oooo i like that it has universal voltage! i have a T3 and have LOVED IT…but it is starting to lose its touch! so thanks for the post. ill put it on my list of must haves :)
Yep – I have this one, too. It’s THE best!
I figured out how to use my GHD to create perfect curls – I barely use it to straighten anymore! Also the dual voltage is amazing if you travel across the Atlantic.
We need a photo of you and your flat iron curls!
[...] everyone! I’m bordering on cranky, ready for this heat wave to end and never come back. No frizz-fighting, oil-sopping product in my beauty closet is cutting it so I’m doing the only thing any [...]
YES. I absolutely love mine.
