She didn’t take home the Oscar, but Michelle Williams wins for best dress color. DYING over her coral-red Louis Vuitton. So juicy and fresh—right up there with the canary yellow Vera Wang dress she wore in 2006 for Brokeback. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my girl Gwyneth, stealing the show in white . . . though I would’ve liked to see her with a colored lip or cheek. Also loved Emma, Meryl, Viola, Tina, and Kristen. Don’t even get me started on tacky and tackier Cameron and J. Lo.
Not to mention her adorbs pixie cut! I love everything about her.

luuuuuuuuved Michelle Williams, Tina Fey – peplum I heart you.
Penelope Cruz was so, so glamorous, her hair was perfection. I was completely inspired by how finished & feminine she looked.
Though I love some J Lo she did not look her best, not one bit. Glen Close also was not my favorite.
As long as Michelle has that pixie cut she can do no wrong in my book. The dress color was exceptional. I also agree about Gwenyth – her face was too bare. From a distance it almost looked as though she had no makeup on. She needed a pop of color to balance the white. I know people are talking about Emma Stone’s dress being too similar to Nicole’s a few years ago but I loooved it…one of my faves of the night.

She is flawless! She really knows her body and what colors work on her. Even her bad is good!
I loved Penelope too – she is simply beautiful – and would look great w/ George Clooney.
No comments about Angelina ? The commercials were better than the Super Bowl!

Michelle Williams was also my hands-down favorite of the night. In general however, I felt a little let down by what I saw on the red carpet. I usually have a clear favorite and then a list of five or six runners-up. This year was just ‘meh’ for me. No one, other than Michelle, really knocked my socks off.

michelle w – LOOOVED her look!! (but, i must the the only one not a fan of the too-short pixie cut. i like the cut only when the bangs are longer, more fem, with more movement, but, i digress…). she looked adorable anyway. the dress was to die for delishious (except for the odd back – weird).
angelina – preferred her golden globes dress – OMG! best of that event. although i loved the oscar dress and how she looked in it, i would have preferred it in a different color. and sticking her leg out there destracted from the gorgeousness of the overall look. she does NOT need to work that hard.
gwyneth – did NOT blow me away. the dress was flawless perfection. her hair – sorry, but that low ponytail looked like she threw her hair back in a pony to run an errand. i like good ponies – hi and low, but not hanging down like that. my hair looks like that when i do – absolutely nothing to it and the hair thingy is sliding down
mila jovovich – WOW! my favorite dress, and girl in dress – hands down! but, her face was too botoxed. i’m distracted by that. she’s too gorgeous to worry about us seeing her laugh lines. jeez.
meryl – most improved. :) whew!
tina – did not like tina’s dress – the pop out skirt at the waist and over the hips does NOT flatter her figure. she’s a knockout with a great figure. dress it. sorry.
kristen – adored her look – hair, dress, makeup, nail polish – everything. i don’t care if some say it looked too casual. she did NOT look casual to me. i also don’t get why some say hair should be up for the oscars. no no no. up can be amazing (kate winslet always gets the up dos just right), but down can also be glam – one can do super sleek (like gwyneth has done, nicole and sandra have done) and down and waved can be super glam (angelina, penelope often does this, and – yes – this time, kristen!)
glenn – thought she looked stunning! hair, makeup, and dress. not my favorite dress, but it flattered her, and her hair and makeup looked so great, her face glowed, her smile! wow! the dress was bold and fitted and structured, and the jacket was HER style, so i give her props for that
rooney – perfection – her look, her style (not black – yea!), but still her style – stark, sleek, simple lines, minimalist. i don’t want those bangs, but it’s her look and she looked amazing. the only quibble i have is those odd pieces of fabric popping out from the breasts – didn’t like the stucture of the dress there – woulda lost that bit – had it cut off
viola – don’t agree with consensus on her look. liked her natural hair, but her boobs looked like they were going to fall outta that dress – didn’t care for it, although it fit well and the fabric, different textures, and cut of the dress were all amazing, i did not like the neckline at all (as i’ve said) and that’s too important to the dress and too close to the face for me to like the dress. it kinda wrecked it for me – even though every other thing about the dress was lovely
george’s arm candy, oh year whatshername, stacy – am i the only one who hated this dress? yuck. it looked like gold tin foil to me – like the gold and solver gift wrap i have in my closet and the big swirly thingy – no thanks. she looked like the oscar statue – not appealing to me. but her hair looked good and that guy attached to her arm is a great accessory!
girl from descendants – YUCK. that white dress looked like a much much older woman should have worn it.
younger girl from descendants – WOW – perfection!!!
i know i’m forgetting lots of woman i had strong opinions about, but whatever… ;)
best for last, my vote for best dress goes to Octavia!!! AMAZING! this is a GLAM SLAM – especially for how it shows real women (who are not hollywood’s typical size 0-2) how to make themselves look STUNNING! it hugged her in all the right places and accentuated her figure to perfection.
Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . . MORE
love seeing these two photos side by side! she is my red carpet icon and i’m still dying over the necklace and bow brooch last night. perfection!
Not to mention her adorbs pixie cut! I love everything about her.
