Every fall/winter I test at least a half-dozen foundations (tinted moisturizer testing begins in spring!). I try to keep an open mind but most fall short of all-times favorites, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It’s hard to beat their buildable coverage and natural-looking shades. And yet I find myself hoarding a heavy glass jar of Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Foundation SPF 25 like it’s my pretty. Velvety and rich with the consistency of a luxurious cream (must be the shea butter!), it moisturizes while providing flawless coverage that’s ironically even more natural-looking than its liquid brethren. Every time someone comments on my skin, I’m wearing this foundation. For the record: I don’t have super-dry skin—it’s more normal-dry this time of year—but the extra hydration keeps it dewy all day. For reals. As with tinteds, this foundation does not replace your daily moisturizer. You may also want to wear a primer underneath since something this creamy doesn’t have as much staying-power.

Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . .

Ok, junkie that I am, I went to Macy’s after work and tried it out. After a full face application, I was sold – literally. Thanks for the tip!
I’m so happy to read this! I got this foundation for Christmas and just tried it yesterday for the first time. What I’m wondering is, how do you apply it? Fingers? Sponge? Brush? I haven’t had time to figure that out yet but at first blush I love the feel, smell and color.
Lucky you! I use a foundation brush since dipping fingers into the jar would be messy and potentially germy.I also think that the thick formula would be hard to spread with a sponge, and wind up more on the sponge than your face — and we need to conserve this precious product!
This foundation has been on my want list since last winter. After reading this I will for sure have to scoop it up.Cold, windy Chicago weather takes a toll on my poor little face and feel like this foundation would really help. Well I’m just an all around fan of Bobbi Brown products too, I think she has some of the best foundations out there.
