I have a soft spot for indie beauty brands. The really good ones are redefining the industry, creating products whose quality blows the big labels out of the water. They’re concepted with care and determination, and a commitment to good-for-you ingredients. Getting to know these fledgling lines requires a bit of extra work on our part. Their budgets are smaller, their websites are simpler, and their products are harder to find. And yet they usually outshine the majority of what’s crowding my inbox and beauty closet.

My latest revelation in this department is Zoe Organics. Handcrafted with the kind of luxurious, all-natural ingredients that are so rare in mass-produced products (coconut oil, shea butter, organic essential oils), this collection of comforting cleansers, butters, and balms for mother and baby is proof positive that purity and efficacy need not be mutually exclusive. Right now you can build a custom holiday gift box for you favorite mother and child. I’d fill it with the creamy, dreamy Love My Belly Butter—which doubles as stretch mark preventer and velvety night cream for extra-dry skin (mine); the endlessly useful Baby Balm for chapped face and lips, scrapes, burns, and rashes that I’ve also successfully used to add a little sheen to my cheekbones; and the soothing oatmeal and lavender Organic Baby Tea Bath, which turned my one-year-old nephew’s bath time into a sweet ritual. You can purchase Zoe Organics online, and at a handful of retailers around the country, but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of this special brand very soon.
We agree, Beauty Bets! Zoe Organics is a fabulous line and smaller, indie brands do create products whose quality blows the big labels out of the water. Just check the labels and you will see the difference immediately. Smaller brands spend more money on ingredients rather than packaging and advertising because we know how powerful word of mouth can be. Thank you so much for continuing to showcase brands that truly care.
I love these little brands, too. My skin has never looked as good as it does when I’m using organic oils and such.
