In the summer I know exactly how to wear red lipstick: with a dusting of bronzer and minimal eye makeup. Once I lose that glow, however, I’m at a loss. I have pale skin, dark hair and sizable smackers, so red lipstick tends to take over my entire face. And the last thing I want is for someone to see my lips coming from a mile away. Then yesterday, I found the solution when I accidentally reached for the wrong blush and it totally worked. Instead of playing down my cheeks like I normally do when I wear Sonia Kashuk Rosey Nude Velvety Matte Lip Pencil (awesomely universal shade, BTW), I played them up with Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush in Dollface, a bright, warm pink. This goes against practically everything I believe in (choose only one feature to emphasize), but the effect was so fresh and surprisingly understated because the two reds sort of balanced each other. This isn’t the best photo, but what do you think?
