Ah, sweet September. If there’s anything I miss about the Midwest, it’s the crisp fall air, bright colors and all things apple! Tis the season to treat your hair to a shine-boosting tonic featuring apple cider vinegar. In this invigorating rinse, the cider gives your mane a healthy sheen, fresh rosemary promotes growth, and the lavender oil keeps your hair from smelling like salad dressing. Do you have a favorite use for apple cider vinegar? –Hannah
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HAIR TONIC
2 sprigs fresh rosemary, chopped
1 cup apple cider vinegar (I like Bragg’s)
5 drops lavender oil
3-5 cups warm water .
Fill a large lidded jar with vinegar. Add rosemary. Fill the rest of the container with warm water. Store in a cool, dry place for about a week. Dilute the cider mixture with three cups of warm water and mix well with lavender oil. Use the tonic as a rinse after you shampoo for super shiny hair (follow with conditioner as needed) or keep in a spray bottle and spritz on hair to absorb oil.
.
Note: if you have color-treated or processed hair, it’s possible the tonic can effect your color. Check with your stylist before you mix up this magic!
Apple cider works! I have actually been rinsing my hair with 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar & 1/2 cup water for years. I do it maybe once a month. It’s the key to having a healthy scalp…and never buying Head & Shoulders.

I do this, too! It is amazing how many yummy healthy food related things are also good as hair treatments. I do a coconut oil overnight mask about once a month and since I’m a brunette a coffee rinse in the shower every 2 weeks helps keep my hair ultra glossy.
this is great! I am totally going to try this. I’ve been hearing such great things about the health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar, internally and externally. Do you know any more about the health effects if you put it in your water?
@Anne – There are endless benefits of drinking ACV! Aiding in skin health, detoxification, and digestion are well-documented throughout history. But some recent studies show prevention of high cholesterol and cancer: http://www.webmd.com/diet/apple-cider-vinegar
The water just helps it go down easier, but you could do shots instead!

Do you have to use lavendar oils? Lavendar is the scent I least enjoy, and I can’t wear it even if I wanted to, being as it is that several of my friends are allergic.
Thank you

@fiona – Abolutely not! Lavander is just a suggestion for covering up that vinegar smell. You can go without or add your fave scent!

Can you recommend a good web hosting provider at a honest price?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!
