Sometimes even the most spend-thrift beauties need to investment in their looks and well-being. As much as I’m into penny-pinching and thrift-store shopping, there a handful of products and services that I whole-heartedly believe are worth every cent. The Original Moroccanoil Treatment ($39) is one of them.
The “miracle” ingredient is actually argan oil, extracted from kernals of argan trees that grow in, you guessed it, Morocco. A “super food” for the hair, it’s rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, and also acts as a UV/heat protector. The first time I used it, I had the most uncontrollable urge to slather is all over my body—it smells that good. I resisted, and instead worked a dime-sized amount into the ends of my hair, avoiding the roots and scalp (we have enough oil there). I blew it dry per usual and voila! Softer, smoother and shinier hair with just ONE use. My hair actually looked *healthy* which is something it hadn’t seen in a long, long time.
After months of use, I have way fewer split ends and stronger hair, allowing me to book my trims farther apart and stretch my beauty budget. And while the price tag pained me, one bottle lasts for months. Other bonuses: Moroccanoil products and ingredients are ever tested on animals, and contain no animal ingredients. Miraculous? You betcha!

Hello lovelies! I'm Elizabeth Dehn, a beauty writer + lifestyle editor who's equally fanatical about lip gloss as juice cleansing. I live in Minneapolis with Mr. Bets and our white lab, Molly Thomas . . .

Oooh, good to know! I’ve been curious about this stuff …
yes yes yes. i recently got on board with this as well. i foresee many fewer outbursts of a static-related nature this winter…whew. ;)
My curls have also branched out to embrace Moroccan Oil Intense Curl Creme, a leave in conditioner that doesn’t so much style as it does smooth–great for split ends/defining curls–but the oil still wins the prize!
Very good to know! Been using some drugstore coconut anti-breakage oil, but it hasn’t been cutting it. My dry, bleached-out hair will love this, I’m sure!
This is amazing, I use it and I love it. If you just want to try it out, you should be able to buy a smaller one. I bought a small one for $14 from Phresh Spa Salon in St. Paul!

I have been using this stuff for about a year. I have all my friends and sister hooked on it. If you love the oil, you will absolutley love the conditioner… haven’t tried the shampoo yet. It really is a great product and love that it has no parabens and sulfates! It is sold in a lot more salons now.
Shannon, that is so good to know! I have both the shampoo and conditioner but have been to scared to try them for fear they would leave my hair limp.
Also, if anyone is wondering: I am CUCKOO for this stuff as well. It smoothes without weighing down my fine hair, and has made my perm manageable and shiny!
I just found some on ebay for $11! Can’t wait to try it. I really put my hair through the ringer with blow-drying and using a flat iron daily…
I’ve been using Hair Milk by Carol’s Daughter lately to get similar results for my long, super damaged unhealthy hair. I’m afraid it may be a little too greasy, though, or that I accidently keep concentrating the product in just a few places. I’m applying it only to the ends and I’m afraid this is weighing my hair down. Perhaps Moroccanoil would be a better investment?
I’ve got, like, the deep conditioning mask, and I like it. But I still think one of the best is the Burt’s Bees avocado hair mask. And I also have long, bleached hair.
Laura, if I can speak for Meghan – if the Hair Milk is weighing your hair down than you NEED to try Moroccanoil. I swear this is a sound investment for every hair type!
Bets I have very fine hair too and LOVE the shampoo and conditioner. I use the latter only about once a week, but my hair looks and feels great. Try the glimmer spray (sparingly though) for a great shine when you are going out on the town!!
Oh yes, I know that hair! If your pixie can handle it, than so can my long locks. And I so have the glimmer spray. It’s brilliant if I spritz and walk through.
yes!! my mom (hairdresser!) gave me some of this and i love, love, LOVE it. it is now forever the one hair product i probably cannot live without!
I love this stuff! I just discovered it last month. It also smells so good; I wish they made a scent to wear too. :)
Just curious, but you meant NEVER tested on animals right? I’m not a fan of animal testing…
Ack! Yes! NEVER, EVER tested on animals!
Where can i find the oil. I also would be interested in the hair mask.
I tried Carols daughter hair mask. It helped
Looking for something to use on my locs that
are 7yrs old.
@lorraine check the website for retailers – it’s only sold thru spas and salons – or amazon. I would start with the travel size: http://www.amazon.com/Moroccanoil-Oil-Treatment-85-oz/dp/B002Q6UK9M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340937459&sr=8-5&keywords=morrocanoil
I liked Moroccan Oil until I tried Josie Maran argan oil – similarly priced but 100% pure argan oil, free of preservatives and chemicals found in MO!
rrreaally want to try this item, but couldnt find it in Indonesia :(
