Summer time in New York City is hot. Really, really hot. Finding a bold, fun lip color that can withstand the heat while I’m waiting for the subway in 110-degree heat underground has been virtually impossible. My go-to lipstick wasn’t cutting it so I went in search of the perfect lip stain. I didn’t want something too glossy or too sheer, but something that would give me definition and lasting color. The winner: Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain in Waltz. Not only does the Magic Marker pass the subway test but it lasts through my workday, which often includes multiple cups of coffee and a post-work margarita. Waltz, a soft berry rose, is perfect for the fair skinned. You can swipe it on once for light color or layer on for something a little more striking. I have been wearing it constantly for about two weeks and have received endless compliments. I am already trying to decide which of the other six shades is going to be my fall staple (Bets says: go for Flamenco!). My only advice is to apply your favorite lip balm on top of the stain because it tends to be a little drying. A swipe of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil and you’ll be able to take on anything…including New York.

I was an enormous fan of lip stain when I first started wearing makeup at the age of 14… even then I hated gloss. So excited to have it come back!! LOVE!
Awesome! I’ve been addicted to the Tarte line of stains, but always glad to have another option.
