Kate Smith is The Rad Housewife. At her HI-larious, well-done blog by the same name she writes about navigating life as a newlywed. She also cracks my s*** up. Case in point:

There are a manicured handful of financial faux pas a housewife can still get away with as a newlywed. A $35 eyeshadow on the shared Visa is not one of them. That said, there are just some beauty products you can’t live without. I like to think of them as my Rad Beauty Staples—always within reach, and always explainable.

(l to r) LiLash Purified Eyelash Stimulator ($140) — Sigh. The spendiest thing in my beauty cabinet. Normally I don’t go for this kind of stuff, but when I tried it, I was sold. And with a few careful winks, your husband will be too! Phytoceane Hydracea Nourishing Moisturizing Cream ($47) – I wear this cream at night, regardless of season. NARS Blush in Super Orgasm ($25) – I’m probably the only person in the world who wants sparkles in my blush on a daily basis, but Mr. Smith actually likes it. LORAC Eye Shadow in Delight ($18) – This shadow always goes on super smooth, and it only needs one swipe. This shade is a great eye-brightener in the morning. MAC Amplified Lipstick in Girl About Town ($14) – I wore this lipstick on my wedding day. I knew I wanted something dramatic, and this creamy rouge did the trick. LUSH Bare Naked Lady Dusting Powder ($12) – It may not be expensive, but it’s still a luxury—especially in the summer when I’m prone to lots of sweating… Chanel Nail Polish in Midnight Red ($23) — Yes, yes. That’s a lot of dough for nail polish. But I swear to you it’s worth it. (FYI – this color was a limited edition). Tocca Eau de Parfum in Cleopatra ($68) – This fragrance is also great as a solid, which I carry in my purse for daily touch-ups. Kerastase Bain Oleo-Curl Shampoo ($34) – I’ve searched high and low for a product that tames my über-volumized hair into natural, trophy wife waves. This does the trick with very little additional product.
