Darlings, it appears that I have fallen behind in my duties! I’ve been hearing/reading about Kate Somerville Exfolikate for months now. This little tube has garnered quite a cult-like following among beauty editors and bloggers like The Makeup Girl. I guess I’m guilty of getting too cozy with a few other products, like Philosophy the Microdelivery Peel and Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel—shame on me! A TV segment I’ve been working on re: time-saving beauty treatments, prompted me to break out of my rut and give Exfolikate a go. It’s meant to mimic Kate’s Signature Facial at her LA spa, but in 30 seconds flat and at a fraction of the price ($85 for a tube that’s sure to last you a year). I was skeptical—for every ten at-home facials I try, two truly deliver. But the second I spread a pea-sized amount of this citrusy gel on my face, I could feel the prickly tingle that tells me Kate isn’t messing around. The combination of ingredients she uses is a powerful one: fruit enzymes (natural exfoliants) to break down dead cells, eliminate bacteria, and diminish discoloration, plus spherical grains to gently buff it all away. It totally works. My skin was smooth, clear, and glowing, and not red or irritated in the least—though those of you with sensitive skin may want to try the gentle formula.

Bets, I finally got my mitts on the Philosophy peel! Have been loving it so far (used 3x in 2 weeks) and I think it’s really helping. But now this one sounds amazing too! If I’m already using the Philosophy peel, do I need something like this on top of it? or are these parallel products?
Emma, Isn’t that stuff fantastic?! You really don’t need both – but worth trying out Exfolikate when you run out, just for fun. It’s different in the sense that you get less of a “physical” scrub than with Philosophy, but the peel is deeper in my opinion. Knowing you, you’ll get a sample from Sephora!
absolutely! I’m on my first tube of this and I will never go without it again!
I noticed Nordstrom has a special set of this available for their sale, might have to check it
out. Philosophy’s microdelivery exfoliating wash works well but I am now curious! Thanks for the review.
So if we’re new to the exfoliating regimen, would you suggest picking up Exfolikate, or sticking to one of your staples, like Philosophy?
@Kate – Both would be a great introduction to at-home exfoliation. Exfolikate is faster and only one step, but Philosophy is goof-proof because you can’t overdo it. Also: If you’re more of a “scrub” girl, the Philosophy is going to satisfy that urge.
