Lip gloss is like candy. Just when I think I have every shade I could possibly need, something new comes along and all willpower goes out the door. This time, the obsession is three-fold. The Shine & Shield set from Laura Geller is a trio of little tubes filled with the most perfect, wearable shades. They feel like lip balm, protect with SPF 15, and look like across between a shiny gloss and and creamy lipstick. It’s a pretty perfect combination if, like me, you don’t like anything too lacquered or too opaque. There’s Gelato, a bronzy shade that would warm up any skin tone; Berry, which really is the most fantastic sheer fuchsia I’ve found this season; and Nude, the sort of tawny peach that looks amazing with a tan and smoky eyes. The set is $25, which is really lovely considering that these three shades are really all you should ever need. Good luck with that.
I’m curious: Has anyone ever tried anything else from Laura Geller? This is my first experience with her line.

I took a Clinique blush to Sephora a few months ago to find a match, and the sales associate showed me a Laura Gellar mineralized blush (Blush -N- Brighten) that was perfect. I bought one, took it home, and realized that the marbling was so completely different from piece to piece that it was completely unusable. Caveat emptor with LG mineral blushes! (It’s also on clearance for $7.40 now – maybe that’s a sign?)
I got a nice sample of LG Spackle a few months back and LOVE it — better than Smashbox, better than Bare Essentials. But they don’t appear to carry her brand at Sephora any more, and if they clearanced out the primers, I must have missed it.
