Every year, Cosmetic Executive Women, Inc. (CEW) bestows the coveted Beauty Awards on a select group of hair, skin, and makeup products. It’s a big to-do. The 2010 winners were just announced, and I devoured the list like real buttered popcorn. For better or worse, below are the winners that grabbed me. You peruse the rest here, then let’s discuss!
- Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion ($8) – Claims to be the “biggest breakthrough in body lotion in 10 years!” Can anyone confirm this?
- La Roche Posay Effaclar AI Intensive Acne Spot Treatment ($18) – Formulated to visibly reduce stubborn and inflammatory acne in just three days while also minimizing irritation. Hooray!
- Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate ($98) – A high-tech serum that helps boost skin’s tone, texture, and luminosity. Is this why Kate and Julia look so good?
- Fresh Sugar Acai Scrub ($48) – Hello! It’s a scrub and it’s from Fresh.
- Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick ($6) — Love the color offerings, don’t love how dry these feel.
- Cover Girl & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush ($12) – A nifty blush and anti-aging serum in one, and yet I just can’t get past the swirls.
- Living Proof Full Thickening Cream ($24 ) – Turns out, I’m not the only one whose life this has changed.
- Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder ($32) – Rosacea sufferers, rejoice! I am so going to try this on the broken capillaries around my nose.
- Cover Girl Smoky Shadow Blast ($8) – Enough already with the shadow blast! Picking this up stat so I can determine once and for all if this all-in-one shadow stick truly does create the “easiest smoky eye ever.”

Would love to find out if the Cover Girl Smoky Shadow Blast really works. I saw it in a magazine just yesterday & thought it sounded interesting. Let us know!
I have the Smoky Blast, and I am not sure about it. Either, I am just doing it wrong, or it doesn’t look good on me. WIll try again and follow the directions more cloesly
Which shade are you using, Hayley? I feel like results could vary greatly!
I have Silver Sky, which is probably not the best shade for me because the lighter color is purplish and I have fair skin, so it looks like I have bruised eyes. I am going to watch a video demonstration to make sure I apply it right, because I think that is part of the problem.
Vaseline Sheer Infusion: Major problemo for me as ALL the fragrances (3,I think) are very intense and gave me a headache. Not to be wimpy but that is really problematic if you are prone to headaches.
I have one Colorsensational lipstick (Totally Tofee) and think the consistency isn’t very “modern.” Felt heavy and “lipsticky” ie: dry like you said.
Ageless sculpting blush- I have the foundation version and the swirls don’t affect the color. I would like to try this.
I am really Debbie Downer here, because the Clinique Redness powder (got a magazine sample strip) was irritating to me. Full disclosure: I can use Maybelline Minerals with no irritation and can’t use Bare Minerals or Jane Iredale without getting irritated. Just saying. Minerals foundations are tricky, I think.
Genefique is on the top of my list. I have to work my way through a Perricone serum that I have going.
Thanks for letting us know what the winners were.

@Lucia – you are saint. Cheap/synthetic fragrance gives me a headache, too – what’s the point?
Totally Toffee is the one shade of that lipstick I still want to try, and it *totally* because it’s The Pioneer Woman’s fave . . .
“Natural” mineral powders don’t preclude us from having allergic reactions. I have much better luck with liquid, and like the finish better.
FINALLY: How is the Perricone serum treating you?
It’s the Perricone High Potency Amine Face Lift (yes, apparently I feel I need some sort of lift).
I really like it. Forget the “lift”, I think my skin looks smoother and more even. I am a bit perplexed about whether I am “cancelling” out my Jergens self tanner for the face (?).
If I didn’t get the recommendation for this exact one from you, I know you referenced one of his serums and this is the one that leapt into my hands at Sephora.
I am going to try the Lancome when the Perricone runs out though.
Have a great weekend.
Lucia
@Lucia – Washing your face and using any product is going to chip away at your self-tanner. Scrubs are the biggest culprits. I’d still rather look younger and have to use more self-tanner any day!
Vaseline Sheer Infusion? It’s okay. It has a heavy cream texture which I like because it feels like it really sinks into my skin. Not sure it hangs on as long as they say it does.
Ditto on the Vaseline Sheer Infusion feedback. I think it has pretty great staying power, but the scent is overpowering and generally just kind of strange. And am I the only one who couldn’t figure out which varietal was correct for my skin type? Target only had the Vitamin Burst and Mineral Renewal versions (Botanical Blend was missing) but I couldn’t find a description as to what was different between the two.
