Happy Earth Day! I’m celebrating by dishing with natural beauty and Twin Cities Live television host Elizabeth Ries. When she and I get together (as we will today at 3pm—do watch), her co-host, John Hanson, literally tunes us out. E.Ries has a serious passion for products that are free of preservatives and chemicals—one of the many things I like about her. Here are her earth-friendly favorites!
(clockwise) Aveda Botanical Kinetics Skin Firming/Toning Agent ($19) – This refreshing toner with rose water is one of my favorite products because it’s so multi-use. I spritz it on after I wash my face, right before I put on moisturizer. I also keep one in my makeup bag at work in case my skin gets dry or dull throughout the day. Korres Face Primer ($28) – A good primer is the key to keeping my makeup looking fresh all day. This is the first one I’ve found without silicone. It also has a super-fresh scent and a really light consistency. I’m actually loving all sorts of things from Korres—it’s the section I go to first at Sephora. Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter ($3) – It drives me crazy if my lips aren’t hydrated. Needless to say, I go through a lot of balm. This one has become my favorite because it’s organic, petroleum-free, and costs about three bucks. Translation: if I lose it, I’m not devastated. Weleda EVERON Face Balm ($15) – This is my dry skin weapon. It’s thick but soaks right in, and a little goes a long way. In the morning my skin is super moisturized but not greasy. I search for this stuff in natural foods stores and then stock up. Josie Maran Argan Oil ($48) – I love things that come with little droppers. It makes me feel like I’m using a very important, very special serum. Just a tiny bit of this oil goes a long way to seriously hydrate skin, cuticles, and hair. And I love that the oil is responsibly harvested by a women’s co-op in Morocco where they receive fair wages. Nontoxique Herbal Scrub ($25) – Exfoliating is one of the most gratifying skin treatments. This scrub is perfectly grainy and contains big anise seeds. It smells citrusy and herbally fresh. And although it’s made for hands and feet, I confess to using it all over my body. It leaves the perfect amount of moisture behind.

You looked good in your green scarf today : )
Watched TCL and I LOVE how you both confessed to using the scrub on your bodies, not just feet and hands…..seriously, I never even thought about doing that. I am so going to. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Tracy! You crack me up.
