I’ve waxed on before about the amazingly good Ecotools makeup brushes. They’re super soft and yet not made from any questionable animal hair. They don’t shed like most department store brands I’ve tried, and yet cost a fraction of the price—under $10 to be exact. It’s kind of a no-brainer. The newest of the bunch is this bronzer brush, available at most drugstores. I love that the bamboo handle is heavy, so I have more control when applying my Smashbox bronzer. And the rounded, dense shape makes shading in the right places so much easier. You know, the last thing you want is to cover your entire face in bronzer and look like this. It’s all about focusing on the places where the sun would naturally hit your face: forehead, cheekbones, nose, and a dot on the chin. And do use a light hand—you can always add more!
I’m giving away a handful of these bad boys today! Just leave a comment with your favorite bronzer. If you haven’t found one yet, what are you looking for? I’m here to help.
UPDATE: Congrats to Anne Marie, Suzi, Betsy, and Patty, whose name I pulled from my magic makeup bag!

Benefit’s Dallas — not too orange-y for my pale skin.
I love anything from Bare Minerals – this brush would be perfect for it!
I use bare ecentuales warmth and I love it.
Hmmmm, I don’t have one yet. Which is why your tweet intrigued me! :) i am a fairly pale gal so i could use all the help I can get! :)
I love NARS Laguna bronzer! It always gives me the prettiest glow (:
I love mary kay brozer sandstone!
I am a big fan of bare minerals “warmth.” I tried the whole bare minerals foundation thing and it wasn’t for me, but I was instantly hooked on the warmth bronzer and just forked out the 18 bucks for a new pot recently (the first one lasted me a whole year!) What I like about it is that it is extremely natural looking. The color makes you look healthy and well, warm! No fakey shimmer, no orangey grossness, and it blends really well and stays with me all day. I use it every day and would highly recommend it!
I received The Bronzed & The Beautiful by Too Faced for Christmas from by husband. I wanted a bronzer to give me a little color over the winter months. He asked one of my daughters what she uses and this is what he bought. I like it. The kit has three color options. I use the sun bunny mostly. Not sure if I will replace when it runs out. It is expensive and I know there are other similar brands which are just as good but not so pricey.
I’ve been using Mary Kay’s Mineral Bronzing Powder. I love it!
I’ve been using a mineral powder, but I’ve realized it makes my face look old. I don’t like wearing liquid/cream stuff in the summer. Any recommendations? Thanks!!
Ditto on NARS Laguna! I’m pretty pale, so I appreciate how buildable it is;
I would love to try this brush out! I would also LOVE help in finding the right bronzer. I have fair skin, so I have found that everything turns orange on me. I love the Bobbie Brown Shimmer Brick, but sometimes it has too much shimmer for me. I have also tried their gel bronzer, but didn’t love it. I have tried a NARS bronzer as well…not so much! Any suggestions?
I love wearing any bronzer that goes on light and helps give a glow.
I like Arbonne’s bronzer. The brush is nice and fluffy… but I like the look of the more compact brush by ecotools, plus I’m a sucker with anything that says “eco” in the name.
Um…its bad when you don’t know the brand because you just bought it at Target because it wasn’t too cheap, but wasn’t too expensive, isn’t it?! That’s the one I have :) But a lovely brush with which to apply my cheap bronzer would be oh so nice!
Love my Bobbi Brown bronzing powder but not the brush I’ve been using.
ooooooooooo Hoola by Benefit all the way!!! I have pale skin in winter but get a nice glow in summer, and this bronzer works all round. Its perfect! It lasts for such a long time too even though I use it every day. I love it x
Nars Laguna!!!
Nars “Orgasm” – for the perfect flushed glow.
I love Too Faced’s Sunny Bunny compact! I had a Sephora sample and loved it so much I had to buy the darn thing. It’s a great color for my skin, but might be too much for someone with fairer skin… not sure.
Would be great to have a specific brush just for bronzer – my blush brush has been doing double duty. :)
Too Faced pink leopard bronzer :)
I’m so super stoked to have learned of a non-animal hair brand of brushes. Thank you, thank you! I’m partial to Bare Minerals warmth – it gives such a natural “i’ve been in the sun” look.
I love the Bare Minerals A Little Sun. I am a very fair skinned person, and all the other bronzers I have tried look too orangey on me. That brush would be a great replacemnet for the Bare Minerals brush I have.
I’m not gonna lie…my bronzer of choice is by Rimmel. It’s the one make-up product I don’t spend a lot of money on. Perhaps I’m underestimating the importance of a great bronzer??
I have the Bare Minerals bronzer too. I need a consult on applying it though – next time I see you – because I feel that I always do it wrong. Never looks ‘natural’.
I’ve always loved Physicians Formula’s bronzers!
i switch between nars laguna and jemma kidd for target’s new show stopper water-resistant bronzer, depending on how my skin looks that day. my bronzer brush is my mom’s from like 1972!
Kathryn, bronzer is tricky with beautiful fair skin like yours! We will play!
Honestly, my favorite bronzer is by E.L.F. and costs $1. It’s hard to say no at that price!
I don’t have a favorite yet! I use organicwear and I love their powder… But I don’t love the bronzer!
I am the fairest of fair and every bronzer looks too obvious on me…at my last make-up application, the artist recommended Lancome’s lightest shade of blush- a bronzey-looking beige that seemed intriguing. I do have a brush question….is it really necessary to buy a special ‘mineral foundation’ brush to apply it? I am in need of one but don’t want to pay more for the brush than the product itself. Hoping EcoTools has one in it’s collection….thanks for recommending them as I’d never have thought to look at a drugstore for a cosmetic brush!
Jane Iredale
Jannie: I love the beige blush suggestion! Coral is also a great alternative for fair skin. You totally don’t need a special brush, just one that’s large enough to distribute the color evenly. It’s just that blush brushes can be too small. I think you should try this mineral brush set from Ecotools (starting to sound like spokesperson now) – it’s got a cute kabuki and a bronzer brush. Only $10 at Target!
I don’t have one. I would like something that looks natural for my medium olive toned skin.
Was just looking at Physician’s Formula new ones yesterday, but they were out of my shade. I am looking for whatever looks most natural.
I love “A Little Sun” by Bare Escentuals! It gives a beautiful sun-kissed glow to the skin.
Denise, you will LOVE Smashbox’s bronzers them – that’s what Kim Kardashian uses to get her gorgeous olive glow!
Bare minerals my favorite.
My favorite bronzer are the bronzer pearls from Boots No7! I’m not sure what the actual name is.
I love both Cargo and NARS bronzers…i’m really fair so need some nice light options for bronzers. good stuff!
I am fair skinned as I see many are, what would you suggest? I recently found this website, and LOVE IT!!!
I’m a big fan of Fresh’s “Here Comes the Sun” face palette. Love.
i don’t use bronzer because i can’t even imagine what kind to use on my pale, but rosy and very freckled face. i’d love to find one though!
I use Napoleon… some really classy chick gave it to me and I love it! Sad to say I don’t have a designated bronzer brush. I use a blush/powder brush for everything…
I’m a bronzaholic – I use cheap Rimmel bronzer, and a combo of MAC’s harmony blush and Benefit “10″ as contour.
I LOVE BRONZER!!!
My fave is Giorgio Armani bronze mania!
