So? What do you think of this greige (gray + beige) nail polish? Please don’t let my morning-puffy hands sway your decision—I at buttermilk biscuits last night.
Neutral polishes—taupe, mushroom, khaki, putty—are all the rage this spring. This is Waking Up in Vegas by Deborah Lippmann. It’s opaque, if you can’t tell by the photo, but I may top it off with a shiny clear coat to make it look a little . . . healthier. Would you wear it? Discuss.
Filed Under: nail polish, trend alert

bad, bad, bad.
I’m sorry, Bets, but I think it is awful.
P.S. And you hands look great. I believe I would still feel the same about the color, even if you had abstained from buttermilk biscuits last evening.
I just painted a second coat. Can’t say it helped!
I think I like it…but I think I would like any other neutral color better.
don’t love the griege, however I’ve never been good at following trends. I still like pink
This certainly isn’t your color. I have seen similar colors pulled off that look lovely, esecially on longer nails when paired with a matte finish top coat.
Meh, not great. I have a similar colour in my polish bag that keeps getting ignored. It’s one of those things where you have to have more brown in it….more along the lines of a melted milk chocolate colour than grey. Grey looks….well….corpsish? Not so nice.
Have you tried Metro Chic by OPI for Sephora? It’s my fave! The perfect gray/beige with a hint of lavender!!!!
@Amanda – totally agree that something warmer/with more brown would look better with my skin tone. What do you think about this (the name just kills me!): http://www.essieshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=695
I want to like it, really. But it just isn’t flattering. Sorry!
(Have you tried Chanel’s “Ballerina”? Looks good on just about everyone…)
I’m not diggin’ it……….but I sure like the hot new green lacquer from the spring SpaRitual Believe Collection – Yes, I Can!

Tha’ts gonna be my next pedi!
What a funny coincidence–I just received a bunch of clips about the new fawns and taupes for a retailer catalog I’m working on. I think the grayness of this shade is the problem. I would name it: Waking Up with a Circulation Disorder, myself.
LOVE IT!!!!!!! I have “You Don’t Know Jacques” by OPI and it’s essentially the same but a bit darker. It’s especially beautiful on paler skin or those with a lot of pink undertones.
Okay this confirms it: Gray nails are for the young and super-hip!
Nope….don’t like it.
But your hands are nice even after eating buttermilk bisciuts!
I also have “You Don’t Know Jacques” by OPI and LOVE IT. Currently on my toes and receive tons of compliments…darker and hint of lavender and very glossy…It’s a nice updated neutral color that works with everything.
I like it! I think that the tone of that photo is a little red, so I think it probably looks better in person. I like that it is so understated, but more interesting than a clear or pinky-beige. Paired with the right outfit, I think it would be pretty sharp.
Wendy – I HAVE a bottle of Chanel’s Ballerina in the beauty closet! Was planning on trying it come spring. Good to know!
