Earlier this week I received mixed reviews on my griege nail polish. By “mixed” I mean that most reactions were negative:
Bad, bad, bad.
Grey looks….well….corpsish? Not so nice.
And my personal favorite:
This certainly isn’t your color. I have seen similar colors pulled off that look lovely, especially on longer nails when paired with a matte finish top coat.
So, I’m calling it quits after one hand, two coats. and three days of looking like a corpse. At Katrina’s, I’m moving on to You Don’t Know Jacques! by OPI, which is a more of a khaki green that’s bound to look better on my pale, pink skin. Which means that Waking Up in Vegas needs to wake up in a new home. If you’d like to adopt this bundle of joy, please leave a comment with the shade of makeup—lipstick, blush, etc.—that you’ve never been able to pull off. I need some company!

Not it. And just curious, but wouldn’t a matte top coat just make it look like you had painted your nails with tinted white out? Thanks for trying it out, though. Keeping that color on your hand for three days is taking one for the team.
I can’t wear anything on my fingernails that’s too pink — blue-based, red-based, etc., they all look awful.
I’m always attracted to really dark nail polish colors, but they look so bad on my nails. I keep trying though! haha
neon colors and whites. My skin is too dark for bright, it ends up looking like a flash-back of 80s horror mixed with a reflector patch that bicyclists wear.
Hi there! Sorry about the corpsish comment….hahaha. It’s hard to explain what those sorts of colours are capable of doing to a skin tone. It’s pretty bad. On that note, I am extremely fair skinned with a pink-neutral undertone…so You Don’t Know Jacque! is a colour that I wear often and love. Looking forward to seeing it!
Amanda, don’t apologize! You’re hilar – and spot on!
Would love to know your feedback on the Lippmann brand, in general.
I think it’s awesome. Can you show pic of it on fingernails instead of just bottle?
Amy – Here’s the pic of my nails from a post earlier this week: http://www.beautybets.com/2010/03/what-do-you-think-of-my-greige-nail-polish
Anything that is anything close to orange – nail or lip color.!
Becky asked about Deborah Lippmann polishes – I was actually shocked at how quickly this polish chipped off. And not just a little bit – it was halfway off my nails in three days. Kind of crazy considering it sells for $16 a pop. it’s hard to beat OPI and Spa Ritual!
