Q: Can you recommend a tinted moisturizer/bronzer? I recently returned to my blonde roots and am feeling a bit washed-out this winter!  –Suzette

A: I am so impressed, Blondie! That is a bold move. But you’re right—lighter hair looks best with a bit of color in the face (something I learned from my fair Scandinavian friends). This time of year you want to keep the bronze fairly subtle. An all-over wash of color will ensure you don’t look like you’re trying to be Jennifer Aniston, god love her. Here are a few options:

arganJosie Maran Bronzing Argan Oil
This 100 percent organic Argan oil is just that—oil. But don’t be afraid. It’s so rich yet sheer and glowy. Just add a few drops over your daily moisturizer, or wear it alone. I love the simplicity, and the fact that it doesn’t contain preservatives or synthetic fragrances. $52 at sephora.com

lauderbronzer
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Luminous Liquid Bronzer
I used this silky, pearlized bronzer on a photo shoot and imparted a sheer, dewy glow that you can’t get from powder. It works best on top of make-up, but you could wear it alone or mix with your moisturizer—the oldest bronzer trick in the book. $28.50 at nordstrom.com

flashbronzerLancome Flash Bronzer
If you’ve perused my list of Best Bets, then you know that when my casper-white friend Laura started using this stuff, she looked like she had just returned from Mexico. Use as a bronzer after your moisturizer, then enjoy as the most beautiful, naturally golden shade develops throughout the day thanks to a built-in self-tanner. $27 @ sephora.com
