My friend Michelle recently lamented: “Is it just me, or do even the most expensive makeup brushes shed?” Her sweet (and British!) husband Dave promptly brushed a few bristles from her face. Romantic, yes, but she makes a good point. The shedding has got to stop. I’ve had the best luck with Bobbi Brown brushes—super soft yet firm, pricey but not OOC, and infrequent shedders. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for other department store brands. Which is why I so wearily eyed Ecotool’s new brushes. The fact that Alicia Silverstone is endorsing them only made me wish that Paul Rudd was pictured on the box instead. Anyway. Despite cheesy floral packaging, ugly hemp case, and suspect $15 price tag for FOUR BRUSHES, I gave them a whirl. The synthetic bristles feel luxurious. The bamboo handles and aluminum ferrules (the things that wrap around the bristles) are sturdy but light. I discovered a favorite new tool in the Finishing Brush, a feathery number that proved perfect for dusting on translucent powder. But the real kicker: So far, no shedding. I so won’t be using these to clean my car.

Have you tried MUDD brushes? LOVE them! http://www.stormsister.biz/mud%20brushes/index.html
Becky from Stormsister.biz told me to come on over and check out what you have to say. So here I am. She was right this is a bitchin’ site with lots of wit.
Is the little case really that ugly? $15 doesn’t sound too bad for four brushes especially if they don’t shed.
Thanks Jen! Becky is one of my fave fellow product junkies. And so knowledgeable. As for the brushes: Who needs the case when the brushes are so darn great?
About 5 years ago, I purchased MAC’s annual holiday brush set at Macy’s. Its a 4 or 5 brush set usually in smaller, more portable sizes. I think at the time, I paid $35 for it? Still a pretty good deal. With a simple cleaning now and then, they have held up really well and without shedding issues. May be worth checking it out to see if they still offer this holiday promo. I am happy I did!
Love these brushes!!! Just discovered them while strolling through my neighborhood Snyders…on a mission looking for an early Halloween treat.
They’re fabulous. I have sensitive skin & these brushes not only apply cosmetics flawlessly with no shedding…they are gentle.
5 stars!
I am so glad it wasn’t a fluke. I’m still in disbelief at what a find they are!
I love my bobbi brown blush brush… totally worth the pricey investment!
Ladies, you’re in luck! MAC will offering three different holiday brush sets this year, at $49.50 apiece. My advice is to inquire at your nearest MAC counter before they launch in December—oftentimes you can pre-shop to ensure you don’t miss out. They go fast!
I love these! I’m always secretly trying to get rid of shine in the middle of the day, and then having someone point out that there is a bristle on my face. “Is that an eyelash”. No, I wish. Great find!
