Confession: I have no idea what I’m going to wear this weekend when I team up to with Project Runway contestant Christopher Straub to host the Hope Rocks fashion show. Somehow, I’ll make it work. I do know, however, that the “Rocker Chic” theme screams false eyelashes and smoky eyes. For the former I’m venturing outside my comfort zone (individual clumps of Ardell lashes in the corner) and taking cues from my make-up artist/model friend Sandra Avelli. A couple weeks ago she applied MAC 41 Lashes on me for a TV segment. I braced myself for something fakey and ridiculous—not daytime talk show material—and was pleasantly surprised. The criss-crossed overlapping hairs create a lush look that’s just dramatic enough to create the illusion of really thick, gorgeous natural lashes. Sandra likens them to the $150 pairs of mink (as in fur) Shu Uemura lashes that Oprah blows through every day. What was Reggie thinking?!
