Korres Lip Butter the Balm

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but I’ve never been a fan of tinted lip balm. Oh I’ve tried, because it’s amazing in theory: moisture with a hint of natural-looking color, and suddenly you’re all glowy and ready to take on the world. But in reality: a schmear of something that looks like a clown kissed me. The in-between color coupled with the slick consistency always leaves me looking like someone out of Gray Gardens. I’d much prefer to keep “lip balm” and “tint” in separate tubes, where they can reach their maximum potential. Until today. I had been staring at this beautiful, glassy, plummy-hued lip butter from Korres that was sitting on my desk for consideration in a fall beauty guide. It was almost too pretty to use—like a new crayon. Almost. I gingerly ran my finger across the top and swiped a little across my lips. It felt so soft and a little tingly, not oily or sticky. When I took a peek in the mirror, I saw something I haven’t glimpsed in months: brilliant, berry-colored lips. Not to bright or too dark, and not too sheer to make it pointless. Just an instant face lift, and such a vibrant change from the nude lipsticks I’ve been wearing all summer. As a bonus, it doubles as a rosy cheek stain. You might say it’s the balm. But that would be annoying.
